Established in 2001, the Dot NAME generic domain name extension is the only one supposed to be for personal sites only. These domains can consist of personal or fictional names, nicknames and/or other designations people are famous by. Initially, just 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you planned to purchase john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Existing 3rd-level domains remained online.

You will be able to alter the WHOIS contact information, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an existing domain to our company if you have its EPP transfer authorization code from the current domain registrar and we will renew it after the transfer has been finalized. There are no particular stipulations on who can grab a .NAME domain, but in order to keep the concept behind its establishment alive, the dot NAME Registry organization may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration could be challenged.
